I recently purchased a 1983 Montauk that has the bow light assembly with the wires but no light. I can see the wires and have been told the other end is somewhere in the stern of the boat, does anybody know where, there is no obvious place, Thank you.
There should be an obvious connection near the stern of the boat.
This normally would be a junction block on the port side but could be on the starboard side during some model years.
If you look at the photo below, you will see on the port side 5 holes near the rear part of the railing.
4 holes held the junction block in place and then you can see the wire running thru the center hole.
This holes goes out thru the side and into the rub rail. The wire runs under the rub rail insert and then to the bow of the boat.
So, the wire runs from the console, thru the rigging tunnel to the stern of the boat and into a junction block. From there it runs out and under the rubrail to the bow of the boat.

Other models may and do vary......

Welcome to the forum. Yes, the wire is hidden. I don't know if you are familiar with how boats go together but there is a part called the rub rail which is snapped into a channel on the side of the boat. There is a wire that sits in a hollow in that channel and runs the length of the boat from bow to stern. Unless the rubrail was violently damaged, the chances are your is in there and intact. You can test it with a continuity tester or just run 12 volts to it and put a voltmeter on the other end, assuming you can find "the other end!"
Is there a wire sticking out from a hole on the back corner of your boat? If not, we have to go find it. Let us know that much first. If it's not there, we'll instruct you on how to go spelunking!
Good Luck,
Grady
