Hello,

I am refinishing a Sport 15 and the previous owner had a 30 HP clamp-on motor installed. I want to pre-drill the holes in the transom to mount another motor before I paint the boat. Are the bolt hole location dimensions standard for all engines in the 50 to 70 HP range or will I have to wait until I get the motor before I drill? If the mount hole locations are standard, what are the dimensions?

Thanks in advance,
Sporty 15

The mounting bolt pattern of most large outboards today has been standardized. You can find the dimensions of this bolt pattern here:

Most Mechcanics should have a "HANG ON" metal template that hangs over the transom and has center line markings and prelocated drill shafts. I makes things very easy. You just have to have a good enough relationship with you mechcanic for him to let you barrow itGrin.
