shaft Length

Member Posts: 11 Comments: 1 Joined: 07/24/07	I have a 80 model montauk, I have found some really good deals on motors that are 25 in shaft ( I know the montauk uses a 20 shaft ) If I put a jack plate on in and then put the motor on it do you think that will work and if so do you think it will look really odd ??? I asked him how he liked it and here is his quote. Note I asked about ride height too as it was a 100HP four stroke. Anyway here is the quote; "It rides a little lower, but not much. I got the motor for $1500 less because of the 25" shaft and they threw the plate in for free. I probably wouldn't do it again." Note the probably wouldn't do it again part... thats real world advise from someone who has already done it.
