I'm a new Whaler owner (actually picking it up this Saturday) for a 1990 17' BW with a 2005 70hp Yamaha 2-stroke. Although I was originally told this was a Newport, I'm now led to believe it is a GLS. Is that correct? What is the difference between a Sport GLS and a "regular" GLS?
If anyone has additional info on this model, please provide or direct me to the site.
That is a Sport GLS not a Newport. A Newport does have a fiberglass side (not center) console but it is larger than the GLS's. The Newpoort 17 also has a deck molding that sits on top of the gunwales, a different bow rail, different seating, etc.
Sport GLS is the model name, there is no "regular" GLS, though there are Sport models, Super Sport models and the Super Sport Limited models.
