I have finally gotten to the point of assessing the engine/propeller setup of my boat. While I have no specific complaints, I did not rig the engine. I am not interested in high speed performance, rather the engine is not lugging and overall performance is good.
I run 95% of the time alone with 1/2 tank, 150 lbs of gear in snotty conditions.
Specifics:
1991 Outrage 17 I
2003 Yamaha F115 4-stroke
WOT range is 5k - 6k
Gear Ratio 2.15
Prop - Yamaha 13x19K painted aluminum
Engine is mounted 1 hole up and the anti-cavitation plate is even with the keel. Photo is
Performance Observation:
2 people, 30 gallons fuel, 200 gear, While in protected water, trimmed out, bit windy. 2 runs in opposing directions taken. Maximum RPM was 5500 on both runs. Average speed was 39.5 mph
I plan to raise the engine 1 hole up. I presume this will get me 1-200 more RPM
