Would love to see some pics of yours. Sounds like you are really trying to return it to it's original factory condition. Also, don't feel like no one is interested in what you found, they just didn't need the info at the present time. It would be helpful to all of us if you could post the who, where info on the plate

Definitely helpful, any info like that is good info. When I bought my boat there was no HIN tag on the back and my state requires a pencil and paper impression copy of the actual plate in order to register it. Called numerous places with no luck, and finally found... you guessed it, a trophy company. Turns out guy had just done one for his boat, even drilled the holes for me, and it couldn't have fit any better into the exact spot where the old one used to be! That being said, I never would have considered that they could also color the capacity plates and copy the graphics like the originals, pretty neat!

Any trophy, or graphic's shop can do the job, they shoot a picture, shrink it down, done.

All I keep thinking of when I read this is loosing value of the boat. Maybe its different with a car, but, you cant just take a Vin tag off a car and change it. Isnt it the same with a boat?? Or am I missing something?

after twenty years the tags are beat. all im doing is making new metal tags that match the old ones exactly. got the stickers from magic brush, wish i didnt. expensive, and not what i want. the tags to be remade are not cheap either but they arent a sticker. the one tag on the back of the boat, you can barely read anyway. its just an aluminum plate.
