I just received the stern seat for my 1967 Eastport which I ordered from Dan Edgcomb (danedg) at Classic Whaler Consoles. After numerous emails and phone calls hammering out the details it turned out to be everything I expected. His work is top notch. GrinGrinGrin I'll post pictures when I get it installed.

Check out his website in the Vendors Web Links Section

Here's a picture of the seat in the boat. Still needs a couple more coats of varnish.

Great looking job, but I always wondered why in the 16-7 hull they built the seat thwarts with 3 pieces of wood instead of 1- 12" piece like they do in the 13 footer. I like the looks of the 3 pieces better, and 12" mahogany is getting hard to find around here. Are the seats cleated underneath or do they just rely on the center bracket for stiffness.

Binkie.
The seat slats are cleated underneath, which also secures the seat to the "boomerangs".
I built the seat for Cyclops, based on the original plans, which showed the three slats.
We debated over putting in a solid seat...I recommended against it as I felt it might pool up water, leading to possible problems down the road. The slats will drain better....
