Hi there,

I sent an email out a while ago wondering what model Whaler I have. Hoping the attached pics will help. The hull ID is stenciled in: CA1995. Also I was wondering what the weight of the boat would be depending, of course, on the model. She measured out at 16 ft from tip of the bow to the transom. Also I have a 90 HP Evinrude (70's model). I am in the middle of doing some work to the hull and bottom. Seems there were some bad patch jobs to her keel and I am concerned about the dry weight should be. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Jan

Jan, there are no pictures attached that I see.

CA1995? I thought the stencil numbers on those boats started with a 3? Do you have a picture of the stencil as well?

Jan,
look at the top of this page for "whaler model specifications" and try to find yours there. The interior will be the determining factor as to what you have.

Jan,

The stenciled number you provide does not comport with any known sequence of stenciled numbers form Whaler. However, as Scott points out, the 1970 16 footers would have a stenciled number that follows the form 3Axxxx and 1995 does fit with that year's number sequence. But the fact is these hulls measure 16'-7" length overall, not 16'-0".

I suspect you may not have a Whaler at all. Can you describe it in any detail? A photo would tell the tale.

Jan,

OK, it seems you have a 1970 model 16 footer, which tells us, for starters, that you do not have a Montauk. The Montauk model was not introduced until 1973.

You can attach a photo to your post but the image file size can be no larger than 98.13Kb

Here are Jan's images he sent me earlier this week. I have been traveling and could not get them up earlier.

Nauset

Jan,

The boat is a Nauset and the motor looks to be an maybe 1984 - 1985 Evinrude by the graphics and the tilt and trim not a mid 70's like stated in your email. If it was a mid 70's it would look like my 1974 85hp Evinrude.
