Member Posts: 2 Comments: 0 Joined: 09/29/07	My 26 gallon capacity tank has a slight seeping leak at the bottom where the seam of the tank nearly touches the floor. I was wondering if anyone has experienced a problem like this , I was hoping to drain the tank and use some kind of compound to seal the leak from the outside . Its not a bad leak but i could use some suggestions on a good solution for this problem.\ Mike

In case you can't repair it, note that Pate and Tempo, leading manufacturers of fiberglass and plastic tanks, respectively, have gone out of business. By the time you correct ALL of the actual and potential leak points in this, you will have spent too much money and too much time. Even then, you'll be left with that nagging feeling that you "hope this holds!" Go right to the replacement is my suggestion. The best of luck to you. I just spoke with Mirax who used build the Aluminum OEM 12 gallon Montauk Tanks that where just like the Tempo ones. I just spoke with Moeller on the phone and they are alive and well and still making fuel tanks. It is true that they have closed their Ohio office and consolidated operations to their Tennessee facility.

Member Posts: 1987 Comments: 34 Joined: 04/02/05	Tom, I was at my local Marine store and they one 1 12 gallon Moeller tank left. I asked if they had another they said not in stock. They could order one from another store if I wanted it however, they were able to get any more from the manufacture. So, I checked with my local mechanic and he thought they were going out of business as well. Not true? I had not heard it on the internet as speculation. Member Personal Page Posts: 4280 Comments: 7 Joined: 09/30/05	Pate is the only above deck fuel tank manufacturer that has gone out of business and that was because of ethanol in gasoline which does do well with the fiberglass Pate used. Lawsuits have nothing to do with it.
