I currently have an '86 Montauk with a 90 Yamaha, great boat but a rough ride in chop. Have a chance to buy an '86 Outrage with a 150 Evinrude. I would use mainly to take kids fishing around Marblehead, which gets choppy. I would also like to venture out 5-10 miles in good weather. Any thoughts??? Thanks[/b][/b]
An Outrage 18 is a good choice to upgrade since it gives you a much better ride, higher freeboard, internal tank, more area and storage (under RPS). For the added weight and bigger hull, you get a lot.
I see the same crummy conditions 99% of the time so I moved up from a Montauk to an Outrage 17 for the better ride.
