I am buying a 115 something, and I have look at all the brands until I am blew in the face. I would love a e-tec but they are hard to find and I need it kind of quick. Is there a site out there where I can get a side-by-side testing of all the brands of 115 and see a honest answer to the ratings ...... Please help !!!

What kind of boat are you installing it on? Just curious as to why you say ETECs are hard to find? Angry

I like my Yamaha four strokes.

Another consideration is what service facilities are available in your area. That might give one make an advantage over another.

I think you will only find personal preferences here, just opinions. Bass & Walleye magazine has done a lot of head to head tests. See if you can find them on the Internet.

Go to that website, look for engine tests, then pick outboards. They will show the ones they have tested.
In my area there are 1 honda, 1 suzuki, 2 brp, 5 mercury and 11 yamaha engine dealers. I picked yamaha, dependable, parts available, if 1 dealer does not have it, I have more choices, also, service is same way. I want to be able to stay on the water, not wait for a part or a appointment. What good is a warranty is parts or service is not readily available! Personnal choice is the key. Ford or Chevy?
Yamaha or Honda?

I had an '87 "Evinrude" 48spl on my boat when I bought it, there is a large factory authorized "Evinrude" dealer near me, they were very helpful with parts when I ate a ring. They did the block work and supplied the parts, and walked me through the rebuild, The block was bored to the wrong size when I got it back from them, and the pistons did NOT fit even without the rings on them (I had to knock them back out with a broom handle and hammer). I called and told the shop, they said "bring everything that you bought down to the shop, and that they have never made a mistake on a block in 30 yrs"., I figured "Well I'm gonna eat this one". I returned to get my block which was done wrong after returning it back to them and was surprised that they admitted to their mistake, they had also put the entire power head back together for me at no charge, saying "We are sorry, totally OUR fault", so they did my motor for free, I only paid for the parts and original block work. I bought another '04 leftover in '05 "Johnson 50h.p" from them, and had them disconnect the "VRO". How could I NOT buy from them after they gave me what I thought was "outstanding support" and REALLY stood behind their work, so I bought "TOTALLY" on "SERVICE". I like the "Suzuki's" (they stand up to abuse well) but, there is like only one place that will service them, and it's far from me
