I recently purchased the Bow Light for my 1981 Newport from Specality Marine. I have previously read the threads about this light. What I didn't expect was the following. The orginal bolts were 5/16 x 18 x 3" long as listed in the your parts
diagram list.
They switched the mounting bolts and chocks to use metric threads. Therefore the
orginal bolts cannot be used with this light. They included the following length bolts
in the mounting kit ( 8mm x 1.25 x 60mm ) was is 15mm or roughly 1/2" short of
reaching the light.
Then I notified speciality marine of the problem. They said their length was correct. I tried to find the correct length of 75mm both locally and on line. I could
not find this size and type both locally and on line thru fastener companies.
I am now waiting to see if Speciality Marine can solve the problem.
Also I previously posted this question but received no reply. My steering cable was
installed down the starboard side of the boat in the area for rod storage. Is this correct or should the cable be routed down the center of the boat in the channel for wiring.
Regards

Sandpiper -
If you have the rigging tunnel (like a Montauk) then the cable is not in the original installation. I think the best use is to have the cable go thru the tunnel.
You might try an auto parts store for the bolts.

Thank you Casco Bay Outrage for the reply on the steering cable. The Newport does have a rigging tunnel like the Montauk. My Newport was purchased this last
December in South Portland Maine.
I also want to thank all the members and admin's of whaler central for creating
the best source of information available.

I don't suppose it was from Port Harbor Marine? I saw a nice one there and stopped to admire it a while ago.
