I hope to make my powering decision soon.. so hopefully the motor questions will stop How about the Mercury vs. Yamaha 4 strokes? Slight weight difference, how about real world problems? One that is really trustworthy, honest, and provides great service? If so pick the brand he sells. I would let that decide which motor to buy. There will be very little difference between these motors. Every motor has it's problems and you could find anecdotal incidents of problems for each all over the internet. If you plan to do it yourself, price out all the gauges, cables, throttle etc and see where you are. If you are looking at a few years used could be the same engine, Yamaha made the Merc 4 stroke power heads for a few years up until a 2005 or so ??? may be off a year or so... Member Posts: 264 Comments: 0 Joined: 03/14/08	The most dependable motor picked overall was Yamaha, Honda was second. Look at the govt and police boats in your area. What are they using for 7 day a week continous service? They go out a lot more than weekends. Mercury is the only US make but Black Anchors as they are called here are not seen on the govt, state and city boats. BRP, Yamaha and Honda. No suzuki or merc's.
