Hi, this is Carlos from Mexico and I need informaton about the ideal measures that I need to know to build a trailer to move an old Boston Whaler 83 Montauk boat.
How wide and lenght does the frame has to be? I want to build a trailer that permit the boat set betwen the fenders. How many rollers do you suggest the trailer must have? From the middle of the trailer what is the distance that the bunks have set to keep the boat in balance. How many bunks do you think do I need to put in the trailer and how many feets long do they have be each pair of them. How many transverse bars is good to weld in the frame to have strengh and to hold the rollers^? I will aprecciate the advice and help that you can give to this amateur trailer builder. Thanks in advance

Carlos,
Can you not get boat trailers in Mexico? I do not mean that is a mean way either. I would think you could buy one cheaper than building one.

I live in a state that is not common boats and the trailers that I ask interested for they are bigger or amaller than the size I need because Boston Whalers boats are wider and the shape of the hull is a quiet different, thats why Ì`m asking the measures. The mountauk 17`it has a beam of 6`8`` so the distanse between fenders will be almost 6`11`because I want the boat set betwen the fenders and the lenght between the exterior face of the weels will be 8`6`` very wide trailer isn`t it?

I will get you some dimensions this evening for you.
The trailer should have 2 - 4 keel rolls mounted to the same number of cross beams. You will only need to bunks that are about 6 - 8 feet long on either side of the keel rollers. Should be an easy trailer to fabricate.

Hi, Grady95 this is Carlos and I will apressiate Your help in the task I have in my hands. If You can help me I have some questions for You like, how many feets are between the back of the trailer and where is placed the axle?. How many inches are the bunks above the cross beams of the trailer? How many inches are (out of the central line of the trailer) settled the bunks? How wide is the frame of your trailer? Does your boat lay between or above the fenders? How wide is the distace from one wheel to the other wheel (out side faces) and what do you think is better glue or staple the carpet to the bunks. Thanks a lot for the information.
