I have some damaged areas on my 'New to me' whaler that I need some opinions on.
I have only owned the boat a few weeks and have had her out fishing already. She is a pleasure to fish from

Now that I have used the boat I've noticed these troubling things
The transom has a small area where there is some de-lamination. Is this a serious problem? How would I fix it?

Also some of the screws where the rails mount are stripped.

There are two strange plugs in the stern. It looks as though something was mounted here then plugged.
What is it?

The gel-coat has been poorly repaired in a few spots. I understand the spider cracks are normal but look at this next picture.

I plan to keep this boat a long time and I want to take good care of her.

Thank's for any input.

Joe

Joe -

Many refer to the delamination on the top of the transom as "green line seperation. One of the several methods is to grind the crack to open it a bit and then fill with either epoxy or marine tex.

For the stripped screws, try cutting a slot (with a dremel or similar tool) on the head and removing the screws. If the screw is not gripping in the hole, drill the hole out a little larger and fill with epoxy or marine tex. Let cure. Re-tap the hole, Coat the screw shank with marine caulk and insert. While you are working on screws, check all the good screws into the hull are sealed with marine caulk.

I had both of these issues with my 1986 Montauk so don't be too worried.
