I have a 205 Eastport from 2005 that has a 150Optimax engine on. I am thinking of adding a "backup" 25HP engine. I like redundancy even though I realize 25 is not a replacement for a 150HP engine.
My questions:
1. Is this possible without much hassle (will be done professionally)?
2. Not counting the engine price, what is a common installation cost?
If it is only for a back up motor you can buy a 25hp 2 stroke Yamaha tiller pullstart for under $2600. There is no installation cost just clamp it on and go. Actually you only need a 15 hp for your purposes.
you may need to buy a kicker mounting bracket if the engine you have is a short shaft engine, the bracket is so you can lower the engine into the water when you are using it to get adiquite submertion. you should also rig the engine with a sailboat prob because a 25 hp engine probably wont get the boat on plane anyway and the correct prop will alow the engine to run much better and more eficiently.

try this link, it shows one though you can probably get one cheaper if you look.
