Dangit ioptfm !!! You are costing me money !!!! First I had to enter the Barnstable PD raffle ( I got my ticket yerstiddy) and now I am prob going to Moose's country to look at this jewel in mildew's clothing! (I just hope its not in Morgan City/Berwick-rough hombres over there!) Very nice find btw. I hope the foam is dry. I sold my Katama two weeks ago in the search for a bigger jetty Whaler and this just may be the ticket. Labor I have, money is being spent on post grad schoolin' so this jusy may be a good fit. Thanks for the info and I'll post any relevant info. Paul

Hull is salvageable. Gonna need lots of scrubbing, compounding and the bottom job will need to be addressed (soda blasted?) depending on the buyer's preference. Gelcoat looked like it would shine out nicely. The foam is wet. How wet is the question. My cousin's guess is just the rearward part where water may have been standing. Trailer will prob need a whole new undercarriage/bearings/tires and the tongue/hitch is in bad shape. It does not appear to be towable for any distance as it sets. There are shipping carriers available on the website where the bid is placed. Bottom line....it is worth a bid but is going to take some labor & $$ to get her up to speed and some time for the foam to dry as much as possible. He said it had a lot of potential though and could probably be a heck of a good looking hull. I'm bidding on it for what that is worth. Paul

Negative. It was not a totally blind auction and you could see where you ranked after your bid and you could re-bid if you were within a certain percentage of highest bids. I ended up 4th. I figured the costs of the initial purchase and the costs of wiring, repower, trailer etc. and compared that against the cost of a turnkey Whaler (like the sweet 18ft Outrage for sale on WC!) and I came up short. It is hard for a project like that to compete against so many good turnkey Whalers for sale on this site unless one can get it really cheap. Thanks again for the excellent find and keep 'em coming ! Paul

Paul, could you tell what it sold for? I was looking at the site and found it odd that they didnt list it... or I just overlooked it.

I am very curious too sraab and will use all my resources to find out but I do not know what the final auction price was right now. It is usually posted according to state/county/parrish law but I haven't called yet. I will post what I find asap. I hope I didn't lose by a few hundred pesos !! It will be interesting to see what she went for. PT

Thanks Paul, I thought maybe since you were a bidder they would have posted it for you or something. I do find it odd that they do not list it.

It does look like it would have been a sweet deal. Wish I would have known about it a couple weeks ago, I was down in New Orleans and could have drove down to check it out.
I am curious as well what it went for...

"The final price will not be disclosed" was the answer I received many times from many different people in my attempts to find out the price of that boat. They said since they were a private auction house they were under no responsibility (state or parish law) to post the final price. Welcome to Louisiana. I guess things haven't changed that much since the days of Huey Long after all. I'll bet a wooden nickel that the boat was sold to the nephew of the Parish Sheriff...for $50 over the 2nd highest bid. I had Salvage Sale approach me because I handle alot of marine cargo salvage for underwriters and I find there approach just plain bazar. I don't know why they won't release the sales results and for that reason I will never deal with them. I don't want to imply there is anything underhanded about it but I have auctioned cargo for 30 years and I need to know what like kind of cargo is selling for to protect my cargo underwriters. Too much wiggle room for them and none for the seller/buyer.
