Here's a shot of a mold half being build for a scale Evinrude 90. The skeg is build up from cherry and then a parting board is made to separate the mold halves. This mold half is now about ready for the second half to be poured. The cowling is at a similar stage, but doesn't show in its mold half. The scale is the same as my Montauk molds (17.5:1). I should be pouring engines by next week, and I'll also have a more few boats built up.

O.K., so the molds work. I've also designed a tilt and steer mechanism that functions. I'm laying up a prop mold today. Anyway, here's another preview, although I appologize for the photo; my new camera leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to macro.

I'm delighted to announce that all of the moldmaking has worked out well, and the first of my Montauk models are now available with Johnson V4 90 hp engines. I chose the Johnson brand becuase I felt the paint scheme fit the overall look of the model, without being overpowering, pardon the pun. Also, the decals were much easier to produce, due to the white background. Anyway, they are available on Ebay now in 3-day auctions, no reserve.

I may at some point make some in Evinrude dress if I can make an acceptable decal, but for now only the Johnson dress is available.

I love it Roy, you`ve found the vacant niche, and have the market all to yourself. Also you do beautiful work.

Very cool stuff! How long before you do a Dauntless 180 with a Merc 135 Optimax? (Hint Hint) WinkGrin

Thanks for the kind comments fellows, but it will be a very long time before I make any more molds. It's a lot of work, and it keeps me from other projects I need to be working on. I'm probably done making boat models at all for the Summer, although I will be making some more engines for previous customers. But if by chance I do a 135 Opti, it will undoubtedly be hanging on the back of a 17 Outrage II. Grin
