Can you tell yet that I am indecisive yet?
How much is the weight difference between a light 261 lbs 2 Stroke and a 369 lbs 4 stroke going to make?
I have had a yamaha 3 hp on the back, and the battery back there. WIth a 4 stroke I could ditch the 3hp, and move the battery up under the console. \
I've even heard of people putting some lead up in the front locker.
Thoughts? Maybe pictures? Thanks!

I personally don`t recommend lead in the forward locker, It is a poor crutch. Also I would keep the 3hp kicker. Its a secure feeling to have a kicker. I would move the battery under the console, keep the anchor in the forward locker If possible you could experiment with moving the console and rear seat forward 6 inches or so.

I've never figured out how to put 2 photo's into these things...so here's the first...
Chris G's Eastport with the old 70HP Evinrude 2 spanker...probably 260#....

And the same boat with the new Johnson 70HP 4S....probably 360#...
Yes...it probably sits an inch lower....but there's no comparison between the 2 motors...the 4 will spoil you rotten...real quick!
Power, efficiency, quietness.....
Please don't put lead in your forward locker....you don't need it.....

I went around and around on this weight issue for so long. I finally threw my hands up and said.....You know when I was little we used to put 6 people in this boat. Most sat behind the seat (63 nauset) on a bench by the transom. The boat had a 265# 2 stroke. We never seemed to have any issue running the boat and there must have been an extra several hundred pounds back there. I said the heck with it. The new engine is 100# heavier than the old one. What could 100# do that a bunch of us sitting back there didn't do?
