well i finaly go arround to ripping out the old console on the boat, came out easy enough as the screws lo longer had any threads left on them. after taking out the screws i began to wonder why the console would not come out, apperantly the PO had glued it down so when i tilted it foreward t lift it out it peeled up a small section of the bedliner. so now i need to repair it before i install the new one. i looked at repair kits at auto zone but thy are black and i need it to be light blue like the inside of the boat. any opinions?

Is the peeled up section what you are showing? Are you sure its the fiberglass that peeled up? Looks like the adhesive to me.

As far as possible repair, are you going to put the console back in the same way? If so and it would be covered you could just do an epoxy repair of that small area.

From what I can see, I would try to remove the adhesive first. Then you should be able to tell what you have. I've even used a little wd40 to remove some adhesives but I don't know if it will work on that. Keep us posted.

no the fiberglass is in good condition but the PO sprayed in a truck bedliner which is what peeled up, unfortunetly the new stock console which i am instaling in the boat is shorter than the old one so some of these spots will show and could get worse with feet causing it to peel. one idea i har was to mix up a bach of epoxy with blue paint mixed into it to get the proper coler and lay it in let it tack up and press it to get the nonskid pattern.

So he found a blue truck bedliner to match the Whaler interior? Thats cool. I have never mixed paint with epoxy so I am not sure if that would work or not.

There is a product called, Durabak , its a bit expensive but its used for truck bedliners and boat interiors among other things. Maybe you could get some in the same color and use that.

Here is a link to their website,

Durabak Website

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

After looking closer at the pic I can see what you mean. I used Ultra-tuff in mine in the medium blue. You can get it without the aggregate which is the non skid part and it may match up pretty well.
