i have a 1988 15 ss that i am redoing. i bought the gel coat to match from spectrum color. my question is this, is there a two part paint that matches the desert tan gel coat? is it called desert tan? i want to paint just the non-skid. i saw a guy that gel coated the nonskid and it did not look good. first of all it filled in unevenly the non-skid and it was dull. hence the paint on just the nonskid deck. thanks
I've done an extensive research for the desert tan hue in two parts polyurethane paint.
None of the painting companies use the desert tan name.
None of the painting companies have excact hue matcing the D.T.
That's why i've painted my montauk WHITE!
The only company which have a hue that nearly match D.T. is Awlgrip.
Note that when you'll use two parts polyurethane paint you have to apply
a layer of primer and then at least a layer of color.
This means 2 layers of very thick pain system.
Sorry, but your ant-skid... will belong to the past.
I've been there...only the pattern remains vissible...but stil useless.
I've mask-taped the anti-skid and i've applied another layer with anti-skid powder.
It's up to you now...
