Are there any organized (dealer sponsored) Whaler rally's along Long Island Sound or in New England?

Hope something comes of this. On a calm day, I might cross the sound in my 13' Shock

careful that "Sound" can kick up a chop fast, let's do "Oyster bay", The most expensive beautiful boats in the world are there (so we should be too), who has $100,000 to spend on "Kevlar" sail's ? They do ! I've never seen any other place like it, NOW THATS MONEY ! I would go ! 55' catamaran. yachts Yikes !

With all that Mills canvas, we could have a winter get together. Grin

O.K., I'll cross on your 20 footer, there's no rythm to the waves on the sound (sorry, get it), they whack you from every direction, short, long, uneven, and sometimes LARGE, I still remember my first experiance entering "Oyster Bay", tide and wind opposing, and that was at the helm of a 23' C-Hawk, it caught this "south shore boy" by surprise, "whoaaa" ! I got through it though. some days L.I sound is as beautiful, and calm as a mountain lake. Huge 50 Lb. Bass too.

You sure you don't want to take the 13? Shock

It will have to be one heck of a nice day for me to try and cross the LI Sound even in my 20. Maybe I can get the ferry to tow it. Grin

The sound is unpredictable, crossings for me from Bridgeport to Port Jeff have been from 2 hours of pure Hell in disorganized seas to crossing at WOT in 17 minutes.

I have been caught out there in some tough seas's as well. The sound can be a nasty place, not to meantion the fog and tug's/barges. I ran from plum gut to saybrook last year on my other boat and got my brains beaten in and then after 4 days go socked in with fog on the way back. If you catch it right it can be like a mill pond. I have never done any boating on north shore in oyster bay, would like to check it out. EZ trailer run for the whaler from massapequa.

Hey, I'd be in.... it would be cool to see all the different whalers together... I'm the new guy... I could launch out of Guilford, CT near Faulkner's Island.... where would be a good place to meet? I'm in a Revenge. Birbirie in Branford has a ton of whaler's at the railway, it's way up Branford River though... let me know.
