Howdy guys and gals,
I have a couple questions about whats going on under the waterline on my 27 fc(inboard), Hopefully someone here can help.
First, as I try to remove and hopefully salvage my two (frozen) engine intake seacocks I noticed that the thru hulls are plastic and the seacocks bronze does this seem right?
Now for the stranger one, after removing the bronze sea scoops from the hull I realized there were another set of (obviously) smaller scoops that were corrded to the point that the (screen) part was nothing but a hole.
anyway my question is should there be two sea scoops one on top of the other like that? because I cant figure it out.
Thanks for any replies.
It is normal to use bronze intakes and sea cocks for cooling water intake. As Jeff suggested pictures would help solve the problem. Plastic/nylon thru hulls are not normaly used for intake.
Thanks for the replies guys,
I'll try to get pictures of the parts I spoke of in issue #2 up as soon as I can (they are off the boat)
as far as issue #1 goes I was/am confused on the mixing of a plastic thru-hull and a bronze seacock.
Also, on the issue of the frozen seacocks that I am having a hard time removing I'm thinking I'll try to whack or cut off the thru-hull and lift (hopefully) the seacock assembly Through the inboard side and replace the thru-hull with a bronze one.
I just cant figure out why the previous owner(s) would mix the plastic and bronze like that and curious how it came from the factory>
Thanks again fella's
