Joshua,
I had a 2001 Johnson 150 that I bought new with a new Aquasport.
When I bought mine OMC was in bankruptcy and Bombardier had
not picked them up yet. So I bought mine with no warranty but I got a hell
of a deal. Fortunately Bombardier later honored the warranty on the 2001
models that OMC built. Now, i had three complete lower units in two years.
The last one was a bombardier unit and no problems. I talked to an area rep
and he told me that OMC'S tooling was just worn out and there was some quality issues they had to correct. Other than the lower unit problems I never had any
problems, motor ran great.
I am a Bombardier customer for life, they treated me really right on this.
The last unit was way out of warranty but they took care of it.
I guess what I am saying is I might be a little leary of Omc engines built around that time. This is based on my own experiences.

I have the exact same motor on my 1985 Montauk that I bought used about 6 months ago. It ran OK when I got it, but I have already had to pay $3K to rebuild the engine. I am the 3rd owner of the boat with that motor. Therefore, I have no idea how the prior guys maintained and serviced the engine. I can tell you that it is running fine now.
I have also found a 1994 60 HP Johnson, 20" shaft, power trim/tilt, oil injected, controls, wire harness, 1.8 gallon oil tank, rebuilt in 2005 going for $2195
How are the 1994's?
I might just pick up something used to get me through a couple of years. Then buy "the motor" to keep on the boat until it's my kids problem!!
