I updated my PP and thanks to Mike (thanks Mike, i just pushed myself!) i figured out a way and i added some photos from the mahogany installation in the place of the rubrail.
I first done this with my father on our 13 just for fun. It came out a real beauty and everyone adores it from the first sight.
Now we decided to do it again to our montauk project. And so we did!
In my PP you can see some details and have an idea of the job.
Thanks to some comments from WC members requesting more details i decided that if someone from our admins here can guide me i can spend some time and write an article with the complete installation (photos + instructions).
It's a very easy job if you have a clue on dealing with tools and i thing it adds an extra classic look to our already classic legends. Again a big thank you to all of you guys for the ideas, photos and knowledge which, in a country like Greece without a friendly BW dealer, made me restore one legend and go for the second...
I'm glad to see you've mastered the personal pages, which we know can be a bit difficult to navigate at first.
What a nice group of photos. It should help those members who have considered trying it. It adds some elegance to the boat. There are many ways to upgrade Whalers but this is one of the real gems.
Let us know what kind of assistance you'd like for the article.
I thought about doing that on my 13 footer, and after seeing your pictures I wish I did. Do you have any pictures on how you bent the mahogany around the radius of the bow.
Mahogany is about as forgiving as if you dropped something hard on an expensive piece of hardwood furniture. it will scratch and dent. If it were mine I would add a 1/2 round piece of stainless maybe 3/4" wide over the mahogany. It would also give it a lot of class.
