I have a mid 80's 85HP V4 Evinrude and a couple years ago I pulled the powerhead to get the lower engine shroud off that had broken. Just got around to putting it back together after finding a replacement shroud. There does not appear to be a gasket between the powerhead and the lower unit. Pretty sure there should be one but might be wrong. Ordered a service manual but it will take 10 days to get here. A penny for your thoughts ole wise Evinrude people.

Thanks in advance,

Capt. Mike

Mike,

You can look up all the parts you need from BRP's Online Parts Catalog.

Thanks Joe, I spent half of day trying to find that website. I am so far out of the loop that I forgotten the big "B" had bought evinrude. Found what I needed to know.

Glad you found it Mike.

I think there should be a gasket between the powerhead and the mid unit which is probably the exhaust gasket.. Not sure.

What did you find out?

I found the exact part # 0387797 but have been searching the web for it. I can find it in a kit for $80 but I don't need everything else, I hope. I restore old dirt bikes and have made dozen of gaskets so this won't be hard.

Contact Ralph at http://www.theoutboardwizard.com/izard.com/ He has good prices on Johnson Evinrude parts. I changed the same gasket on my motor and got it from him.
