I have a 96 outrage 17 and am interested in putting up a ski pylon that fits in the stern railing. I do not want to drill new holes in the boat and the single post approach is not very secure for tubing, I hear, so i would like to modify it by supporting it on both sides, to the transom where the stern railing is attached. I am ready to build or buy an existing tripod unit but would like to know the dimension of the ski pylon that boston BW sells. Would anyone that has an original BW ski pylon take a minute and measure 1) the overall length, 2) the length from the ski rope attachment end to the hole where the pylon gets pinned, 3) the pylon diameter and 4) the tube thickness. This info would be very helpful and a picture or two would be a bonus. Once I build a modified unit and it works well for tubing, I can post some pictures and comments as an optional way to secure a pylon. Thanks,

tibor,
My buddy has a 1996 with the single ski pylon like you mention.
In 1997, they changed that and added 2 legs that mounted inside the sides of the splashwell.
I had this newer version on my 1997..
Both of the above were made by Swivel-eze.....
I don't have any photos of the newer version. I would ask around at different Boston Whaler dealers. One of them surely has to have one left over or available. No sense in reinventing the wheel if you don't have to...

I wrote to several dealers and the single pole version is available at a SIGNIFICANT COST but I do not think it’s a good arrangement. Did not realize that in 97 they upgraded the design with support legs. Was the new design sitting directly on the floor or was it still inserted in the splash well railing? Would it be possible to get the dimension from the floor and some pictures of the installed rig?

tibor,
I no longer have the boat.
Yes, the pole inserted in the same place and fashion as it was basically the same pole.
The only difference is the added quick disconnects for the 2 support legs that went back to the splashwell.
No, they are not cheap. You might take a look at the swivel-eze as that is the brand Whaler that both of the Whalers I mentioned above had installed as original.

Yes, I was looking at the swivel eze units and was thinking of cutting to match the overall height of the original units inserting it in the railing. The BW p/n calls the item a 28” ski pylon. Do you think the 28” length is overall or is it the portion that protrudes above the railing socket? Also, the railing socket has two holes where you pin things to fix in place. I would think the pylon was pined at the lower point, which makes the length of the pylon protruding unknown w/o someone who has a unit. Need help with this one, thanks for your interest.

That same mount on the splashwell railing was used for 3 things.
1. Ski Pylon
2. Bait Station
3. Folding Cockpit Table
Here is a photo of my prior 1997 with the Bait Station installed.

All 3 types of accessories use the same quick release pin.
Here is a photo of a cockpit table. These were available in either teak or starboard.
Look at all 3 photos to view to folding cockpit table and quick disconnect pin and mount.

Yes, i have the very bait station and i have been looking for the folding table. The pipe where the accessories fit has two holes, the tables get pinned through the top hole that is why i thought the pylon fits in the lower hole.
Would you have line on a teak version of the folding table or know where there is one available?
