I have two Whalers. A 2002, 260 Outrage fitted with twin 2004 225hp 4 Stroke Suzuki's which I use for fishing and running a few charters during the spring Striped Bass run in Raritan Bay, NJ. My second Whaler is a 1991 17' Outrage fitted with a 2005, 115 hp 4 stroke Suzuki that I use for shallow water fishing and clamming off LBI, NJ. Two outstanding boats!
Two Whalers: one is a 1996 13' gls w 25HP Merc, other is an 83 Montauk w 90HP Johnson. Both will be used for fishing, crabbing, chasing sailboats at regattas and misc FUN!
B. Cruising (in my mind) I don`t like to get her dusty sitting in the garage, without a cover, let alone get her wet. Will run the motor occasionally, though. Got other boats to use.
The boat was primarily used for fishing, I have the little ones now, so cruising is better (for now), I did one fishing trip ( a back creek) with the little guy (we only caught a crab but, he loved it), I hope to see fish back in the boat soon. I really need the 17' Montauk (family is growing) but, parting with my 15' sport, would be like parting "Pee wee' and his bicycle.
