First post so please be kind. Looking at repowering 1996 60 HP Mercury 4 stroke with 2017 50 HP Mercury 4 stroke on my 1996 Dauntless 15. Hear it should be "easy" as bolt patterns and controls can be left in place and just reconnected. Are there Gremlins hiding I should know about?
Thanks,
JC
Once you verified the hole spacing, you will want to mount the new engine so the top bolts are in the 3rd hole down from the top and the lower holes in the middle of the slot or middle hole (some Mercury engines dont have lower slots.)
Also you will want a quality stainless steel prop. Do not waste your money on a new engine and install an aluminum prop.
