I currently own a 2005 Montauk 170 and really enjoy the boat. Today I found a 2007 left over Dauntless 160 with a Mercury 115 hp 4 stroke at a great price. When I started out looking at BW's I wanted a Dauntless but could not find one. As I said I really like the Montauk but like the idea of a much larger built in fuel tank, more storage, and a larger engine. Can anyone give me any real world comparisons between to the boats?
Thanks

2007 Dauntless 180-2007 Mercury Verado 150
The Dauntless have better behaviour in rough water than the Montauk.
The Dauntless have better storage than the Montauk.
The Dauntless have built in fuel tank which Montauk haven't.
BUT...
The Montauk is lighter than the Dauntless that's why Dauntless
needs a bigger engine (Don't expect Dauntless with 115 to be faster).
You can always put a 2 stroke 115 on the Montauk as i have and
get mid 40's mph.
Last but not least, you'll not get the mileage which your current setup
offers you with none from the above (dauntless + 115, montauk +115).
Still...everything depends on the use of your boat
Hope i helped,
