It's a shot in the dark, but does anyone have (or have knowladge of)
A Boston Whaler 27 ft F.C.
Info on these boats are hard to come by.

The 27' Full Cabin was first produced in 1985 and lasted until 1990 according to the catalogs.
Do you have Tom Clark's Catalog CD Collection? The link to his CD is on our front page. His CD's contain all the catalogs, price lists, and literature ever produced. A must have for every Whaler owner in my opinion.
Anything you particularly want to know about the 27 Full Cabin? I'm sure someone here might be able to answer some of your questions.

Heres a question that comes to mind,
Does anyone have any experience with mounting a windlass on this boat?
I am considering mounting a Good afd 500 windlass but the only place to mount it is on the hatch (not a great idea with out some modifications)

Doesn't the boat have a bow pulpit? I haven't seen many of them but it seems the ones I have seen all had pulpits.

Hi Mike, Yes the boat does have a pulpit but the thing is that the windlass itself has to be set in a location where it can drop or "tail" the line into the center of the anchor locker.
The only place like that on this boat is on top of the anchor locker hatch, and as it is now it's not a good location without some type of modification and re-enforcement..
Also when I figure out how to do this I will be adding a Good roller/pulpit ontop of my existing pulpit.

I have a windlass on my 27, Look at thae pics on my personel webpage , it will show how it is mounted/run. In short it is mounted right on top of the anchor locker hatch, with self feed down into the locker itself. Feel free to email me if you need help.

Yeah, its been bolted down in all 4 corners to handle any stress. The bolts go into taps that were drilled/epoxyed into the the anchor locker. I have never had the hatch move or have any stress cracks appear as a reult of the way it was done.If I need to get into the hatch then I loosen the bolts and lift the hatch up, as the hinges are still on it. I will see if I have any more pics around that show a closeup of that locker. I am trying to post updated pics on a regular basis.

Thanks Peter, I dont want to be a pest but I am curious, Do you ride on the windlass at anchor with that set up?
I ask because some people cleat their anchor line after setting the hook, but for me that would defeat the purpose of having the windlass.
Also did you do that work yourself? if so how did you go about it?(I'm just not that adventurous with that kinda' stuff).
Well so much for not being pesty
If any one else feels like explaining how to do what Peter described I'd love to hear it.

My boat was already rigged that way when I bought it, but its pretty simple to do .email me , I will give you my cel, rather than kill myself typing the details in. the short version is that you center the windlass on the hatch, bore out the feed in hole, and bolt the whole thing down, using good size stainless fender washers/backing plates. the wiring harness will run along the cabin wall under the teak molding that runs along the headlinerand going into a hole that you will drill into th barrir wall between the lockr and the cabin(under th mirror). The hatch is bolted in all 4 corners, with the bolts going into taps that you will need to epoxy in on the anchor locker walls, where the hatch meets them.
I tie off to the cleat, always,because its not worth the risk if the clutch on the windlass fails to hold.Think of it as extra security and holding power.

Hey Guys, I noticed the pic's of my anchor locker are up on my personal page are up.
I dont know how to link the page but feel free to check it out as I have not pulled the trigger on the windlass yet and would apreciate any more suggestions.
