Hi All - I read somewhere on the forums that someone installed a T-Top through the center console... any help finding that post would be ideal as I'm looking to do the same possibly... Thanks! Marc
If you review the archives you will find the recommendation to NOT install a t-top, full or partial, on a Montauk 17.
There is not sufficient backing material in the floor to support a top. If you insist on installing a t-top to the console or deck, significant engineering is necessary (big $CN).
The size of the boat does not support a t-top well and its performance will be adversely affected.
If you really want shade, install a bimini top on sliders instead.

I have had a T top on this boat for over 15 years. First a bimi t top and now an Ocean South.
I installed lights, radio antenna and temporary full enclosure for wet or cold weather.
It mounts to the center console at the 4 corners. It does NOT mount to the deck. It slides up and down so its fits in my garage. About 10 minutes up and the same down. It comes in different sizes, I got the 53" long by 41" wide. They also have fixed mount T tops.

Hi Wrangler - you happen to have any pictures you can share of your install? Love to see it. I agree with Phil that it should not be mounted to the floor so yours looks like the solution!
Clarification - In my original post I do not say to not install a t-top on the floor.
What I should have said is:
If you must install a T-top on a classic Montauk 17, it will need to attach to the console in at least 2 places AND wider leg flanges be fabricated or an aluminum strap (2" wide, 3/8"+ thick) be welded to the front/back legs. Lag screws every 6" along the plate to spread the load across the deck.
