Today I jumped on my whaler 130 sport, started up the 2-stroke (3 cylinder) and left as normal. When I hit WOT, my RPMs were showing off the chart around 6500 with 5500 being normal. I gps tested my speed which was the same as always, the motor didn’t sound different at all. I also checked the prop for damage and there was none, there was also no play when I tried to manually move it. Any thoughts?
Must be a bad Tachometer, went for a spin tonight and it showed normal. I noticed this afternoon when the boat was off, the needle was at 1200, when I shut it down tonight, it was around 800.
