Adding rod holders

Member Posts: 10 Comments: 0 Joined: 06/20/21	Hi All, I have a 2019 Montauk 170 with the low rail package. I was wondering if anyone has installed a flush type rod holder in the gunwale? Is it possible? The only drawback I can see is water down in the holder then into the foam . It’s probably a bad idea but I thought I would ask. Thanks much Cliff

Cutting into the gunnel or anywhere in the boat, in any way, is an invitation for water ingress. Member Posts: 752 Comments: 4 Joined: 12/31/06	I looked at the specifications for the 2019 Boston Whaler 170 Montauk posted on the Boston Whaler website. The standard features showed 4 rod holders located in the stern. The optional Fishing Package offered 4 console mounted rod holders. How many rod holders do you need? You should already have 4 rod holders in the stern of your vessel.
