On my 2004 Yamaha 90 two-stroke, the O-ring on my tilt ram has swelled and looks like it wants to pop out. The tilt mechanism is still working but I am hoping I can get another month out of it before I pull the boat for the winter. Should I leave it alone, or is there anything (e.g a blob of grease) that I can buld up around the shaft to prevent water from seeping into the cylinder? The O-rings on the trim rams look fine. Any suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks. Peter

I would use it and see. Most leak out due to pressure of the fluid, not in.

Will a rubber sheet an a hose clamp reinforce it temporarily? Can't see what you are talking about so just an offhand thought.

Hydraulic pressure could be 2000 lbs so I doubt duct tape will help with this. Just make sure you have enough fluid for now and plan to service it in the off season..
