I have an old montauk 17 with a 1987 mercury clamshell (115) and want to replace throttle control. Does anyone know if morse controls would be compatible with this engine? If so how would I go about instaling this, do I need to replace the cables?
I would think that morse sells controls that work with any brand of engine. Just make sure that you buy the proper one for your Merc.

Why go through all the trouble of replacing a control box and not put in new cables?
The hardest part about putting new cables in is connecting them to the control box. You have to do this no matter what you do if you replace the control box so put in new cables while you are at it.
