I've just purchased a 2005 outrage 240, and had a 2020 Verado 300 hung in place of the 2005 Verado 250 that was on the boat when I purchased it. I'm working on figuring out what prop to use to provide me the fastest cruising speed (speed between 4800 - 5200 rpm) on this setup and have tried the following:
Mirage 15 3/4 x 15 - poorest performance - tapped out at 37mph wot (5950 rpm), 32mph at 5000rpm
Enertia 14 x 19 - tapped out at 41mph wot (5650rpm) 36mph at 5000rpm
Enertia 14.7 x 16 - tapped out at 39mph wot (6000) 34mph at 5000rpm
Looking at whalers test with twin 150's it seems they're hitting 48mph wot, which I'm not close to. Wondering if anyone has any prop advice? Also, I think the shop may have hung the engine too high. Does anyone have advice for distance from keel to cav plate on this setup? Many thanks in advance.
