Hello! I am looking for any and all advice regarding my jet boat, has the Yamaha 650 in it. The engine fires and runs great on land without water being pushed through it, but as soon as it hits the water, it putters out and dies. We verified spark and fuel, and now we're trying to figure out what else it could be. I wonder about exhaust issues where water is getting in someplace. Please let me know any and all ideas you may have. I feel like it's something simple, but just trying to figure out where to go next. Thanks again in advance!
I talked to a mechanic friend on mine and he said it's possible there isn't enough engine compression to push exhaust out the pipe given the back pressure from the water. Anyone ever heard of this before?
