I have a 2002 295 conquest with twin 2002 225 optimaxs . I just put 4 blade props . Before I had to be at 4500-4700 rpms to keep at in plane at about 23 mph . Now I can run it at about 4200-4300 and it runs 23 mph so it’s much better . It seems very slow though . Everything I read people with the same boat say they sat running cruising speeds of 30 mph at 4000 rpms . Anyone have any ideas what I can try on my boat to get those same numbers ? I do get normal top end of what Boston whaler says 39mph at 5600-5700 rpms , also at 23 mph I am burning 22-24 gph . Everyone else is claiming 20-22 gph at 30
Mph . Anyone have any ideas ? Thanks

There are alot of variables to get results.

Sea state, boat loading, bottom condition, windage items (antenaa, dome, outriggers etc).

When discussing props one has to include make, model and size.

Do you have trim tabs? They help reduce minimum planing speed.

Hello I had 3 plate 17p I called mercury they told me to get 4 blade 15p it made a huge difference . Before I was at 4500-4700 at 23 mph now I am at 4200-4300 at 23 mph and also my plane time is about half now . Those numbers are In the calmest conditions . With 4 people on the boat almost no gear we were going to the beach . 150 gallons of fuel and 40 gallons of water . I have ac generator and how water heater . The bottom of the boat is spotless it just went in the water 2 months ago . Before going in the water it was taken down all the layers of paint and then repainted . I do have full canvas and I have a 4 ft open array . I do have trim tabs but I have to keep the bow so high out of the water I had to buy a new peddastel for my seat to raise it 18 inches or I can not see over the bow . If I try to use my tabs to lower the bow as soon as I lose it even a little the boat instantly comes off plane unless I run it at 4700-5000 rpms to keep the same 23 mph

Please confirm the MODEL of 4 blade prop. Are they Mercury REV 4?

Two Conquest 285/295 owners with the Mercury/Yamaha 225's recommend the 17" Rev 4's.

Try filling the vent holes on your mirages and let us know. Vent holes can act like a slipping clutch if open on some boats. I fill mine with epoxy and kittyhair.

They had the vent plugs in them that block the holes off . I also tried every size vent holes they have and I also tried to run them with the vent plugs completely out and either way it always did the same thing . I was out all day today and I had to run it at 4800 rpms to cruise at 28 mph if I tried to go any slower the bow is straight up in the sky and I can’t see where I am going . Even with the motors trimmed all the way down and the tabs all the way down . If feelt like the transom is made out of concrete is the only way I can describe what it feels like driving it . It’s like the transom weighs 10,000 lbs .
