Hello,
Was looking into getting a top mount style Thrott/T&T for my center console.
Was checking this one out.
The descriptions mention it being universal...I'll be getting a 2 stroke Yamaha 90hp inline 3 cylinder outboard.

It is a SeaStar Xtreme Top Mount Throttle and Shift Control

I have found that most universal control boxes are not much cheaper than OEM. I have also found that those same shifters will have no replacement parts available if needed in a few years. Now if you buy a Morse or Livorsi, different story.

Nothing wrong with a used one either.

My friend had a whole box of universal binnacle shifters similar to above. He got them for free as they had no plastic covers and they were no longer made. I would find the covers here and there on e-bay or marine surplus stores and trade him a cover for a shifter. I think they were made by morse and Suzuki used them as OEM back when.

I would highly recommend the classic Morse MT-3 control that Whaler supplied for years. To this day there is nothing better looking and smoother in operation than this unit, especially when used with the new "XTREME" cables.

It does require a separate trim switch panel, which seems like an inconvenience but really is not.
