I have a 1977 Outrage 21 I purchased last fall and finally in the process of getting ready for spring. Boat had been sitting in storage for 4 years before I got it. Boat has a pair of 1993 Yamaha C85 outboards with 341 hours. Starboard motor is in good shape after carb rebuild and full tuneup. Port motor needs a new lower unit.
I have a really nice Evinrude xp150 and am debating on removing yamahas and replacing with Evinrude. I can then use 1 of the yamahas on an aluminum river boat that needs a motor upgrade.
Would you leave twins or replace with Evinrude. Boat will be trailered to gulf several times a year for inshore/nearshore fishing. Ive never ran a boat with twins, have always ran singles.
The Evinrude XP 150 is light and your boat will perform incredibly well with that motor. If you plan to troll, I recommend adding a Yamaha 9.9 High Thrust to troll and position with.
I do this with an Evinrude 225 two stroke/ 9.9 High Thrust and it works terrific on my 1980 22 foot Revenge
Used an OMC factory Dual Binnacle for controls and a steering tie bar to the kicker...Power tilt on both motors. Separate, tank, batter/everything else for safety reasons/back up.
