I’m considering a new motor for my old boat. I love the idea of going with a “period correct” vintage motor, but I hate the idea of being stranded with an unreliable motor. My 1986 mercury 25 HP tiller has treated me right for many years, But there’s nothing period correct about that. I saw an old thread where a guy was considering repainting or adding a retrofit cowl to give the appearance of an old bearcat outboard. I’m looking for some ideas as to how best to go about achieving vintage look without sacrificing reliability. If I could buy a brand new motor built to look like in 1960s era motor I do it in a second. All thoughts and ideas are welcome.
