Hi everyone. I am looking at a 160 dauntless and went on a trial today. It has a 90 mercury 2 stroke with low hours. Very clean boat. Here are my observations and what I need help with
1. Lots of vibration at trolling speed. Felt it a lot when holding onto the center console grab rail. Is this normal.
2 With two 200 guys behind console, half a tank of gas and a medium sized woman in the jump seat, it was slow to get on plane. STandard alum prop and I am unsure of height of engine. I know it is slow to plane but the bow really went high and it took a while to get it down. Any thoughts? Hydrofoil? People sitting in bow will help?
3. At about 4800 rpm we were showing about 26 mph on gps. Is this normal for this set up. He said he had just a slight amount more to go before wot. Is this normal. How many rpms should I be doing to be in a 25mph cruise speed
I really like this boat but have nothing to compare it to. My previous boat was a 2004 montauk 170? With a 90 4 stroke that was smooth as silk. Any feed back. Thanks. Alan
