HELP... I can't seem to find a lower unit seal kit for my 1974 Johnson 70 hp Stinger motor. All that I was able to find were kits for models after 1979. If anyone out there could direct me to a source, I would be one happy boater!

Jody,

I just did my lower unit earlier this year.
It seems that most of the OMC engines prior to 1996 used 2 prop shaft seals, 4 screws with rubber seals, and 1 large o-ring.
My 1985 Evinrude 150 used these part numbers.

Seal #320862 (2 of these) $12.85 each
O-Ring #305123 (was #321119) $1.19
Screws #316563 (4 of these) $2.39 each

Your part numbers may be different so check the BRP Online Parts Catalog.

When putting the 2 seals on the prop shaft, make sure the lips are facing the proper way.
NOTE: pay attention to the way the lips are facing when you pull out the old ones.
The seal lips are facing opposite directions.
