I need to find a diagram or source where I can buy the stick steering mounting plate for a 13' Trophy. There are not many left and I have one I would like to restore to original condition if anyone can help me e-mail me at: delwalsh@verizon.net

Wharf,
Whaler never made a 13 trophy model. do you have pictures of the boat? Also by stick steering are you referring to the push pull cable steering that mounts to the transom in stead of running through the motor bracket tilt tube? See image below.

Jeff,

This model had a stick to steer the boat instead of a steering wheel.

wharfrat,
I would like to add some photos of your model to the Whaler Model/Year Index section.
Can you send me some photos?

Wrong again. I need to start reading through all of the catalogs again. That thing is crazy.

I always wondered what the advantage was of the stick steering?

Not having a console gives the interior of the boat more room.
Just as much room in the boat as a tiller model only you can steer from the front..
Now, which way do I move the stick to turn to Port?

Never knew Whaler made a stick steerer, but I`ve seen it on other boats years ago.
Think of steering a bicycle. Pull the stick back to turn to port.
Very simple.

That set up reminds me of an AirBoat.

The "Stick steering" is commonly used on the "Launch boat" at the marina for ferrying passangers and guests to "moored" boats. That little "Whaler" is "COOL" ! I had the steering knuckle in the pic on my old 48spl with a steering wheel.

Good one PJ! I got a good belly laugh! I had a stick steer on my 'ol Ouchita and used to get so confused when Mr. Cypress Stump magically appeared that I constructed some wood to mount the steering stick latitudinally. I gotta follow the KISS rule concerning that system! Nice find Wharfrat! That is a peach of a find. I am new to this site and am learning more every day. Great pics Joe ! Getting that rare bird back to spec is a very worthwhile effort so be patient and GOOD LUCK !! Paul

Stick steering is still available. One manufacturer is EZ Glide:
