I'm looking at a 1972 sport, old motor with no electric start, found a repair on bottom, about the area of drivers seat, he is asking $1900.00, any ideas? Sorry 13'.

What do you have to lose? Make sure it isn't waterlogged, offer 1500, and get some fun out of it.

A link to photographs of the prospective purchase can help us help you.

No, he'd only budge $100.00, and I didn't like the older pull start motor.

With a known repair on bottom and a seller switching gears.......lot's of other boats out there to purchase. Impossible to answer "what's it worth" without photos and better description. How was it repaired and who did the repairing? Too much unknown.

You never told us what motor? Then without pictures who knows but offer him a thrid less if boat isn't water logged. Did you run the boat? How does she looks balanced in the water with old engine. Again what engine is it.

We did come up with a compromise , if I check the boat again, and all is good, he'll keep his motor, and yes almost a third off the price. The motor was a 60's evinrude 25 hp

I don't know how handy you are, or what your mechanical skills are, but actually a 25 inch motor that's functional and a perfect match for that old boat may be worth having. The late model repowers are all right, but there's something great about the lightweight originals that makes them hard to beat if they're in good shape.
