Just wondering if someone could suggest the best distance between the trailer bunks for a 17 ft Whaler. Setting up a new trailer to pick up a Whaler.

Thanks

Paul

The bunk trailer for my 1970 16 Nauset is set up at 29 inches apart side to side.
The bunk trailer for my 1990 Montauk 17 is set up at 33 inches apart side to side.
Both trailers have three keel supports, respectively.

There are lots of 17' Whaler models with different hulls.

Which one?

Montauk 17'
Montauk 170
Outrage 17' I
Outrage 17' II

That is one of the reasons we have the Guidelines at the top of this page so we all know what boat the question is about.

If you have a 16' Whaler, then that may also be different as Weatherly points out.

Whaler never used a name using inches or decimals.
13', 15', 16', 17', 18', etc.

Sorry I forgot the details. It's a 1987 Newport.
I just have the two bunks for now but intend to get center rollers for long term storage. Just need to get the boat home later today. I will try the suggested distances to start and see if I need to adjust at the ramp when I get the boat there.
Thanks
Paul
