My compass has a bubble that makes it very annoying to use. Can someone provide the model number for the orginal recessed compass on my 1989 Outrage 22? Also, is there to have this repaired or should I just buy a new one?

A power point is mounted on the original lower left hand console switch plate. Is there a brand and part number for the appropriate male power connector for that power access point?

Thanks,
Doug Vazquez

Doug,

Compasses were optional.
You don't mention what brand of compass you are referring to???????????
Generally Ritchie compasses were used by Boston Whaler.
I would contact Ritchie and see what they can do for you if you have the Ritchie compass.
http://www.ritchienavigation.com/ation.com/

Ritchie has replaced the head unit for a compass in the past. They just sent me out a new head for no charge.
You can also fill the head yourself however, there must be some reason for the air bubble...
A leak???

For the Power Point, try Perko.... I have purchased these from them in the past.
I have one for my Outrage that I purchased several years ago...
http://perko.com/
Look at Perko #1189... This is the connector with cover.
I am not sure how they are describing the other unit... Connector only #0042
To me, one should be the socket and one the connector so I can't tell you for sure.
I bought the entire 2 part receptacle and plug.....

My boat has the power point in the console too, was never sure what the purpose is? Did something OE come with the boat that was plugged into that?

I ended up swapping out the power point for a standard cigarette 12v outlet. It did have a perko male adapter which I left with the boat when I delivered it this weekend.

As for the compass. I had the Helmsman HF_740 which was a GREAT compass. I have also seen the flush mount version of this compass which is the Helmsman HF-742 on some Outrages as well.

Look at this parts article:
http://www.whalercentral.com/readarti...icle_id=59

You can view the receptacle by Perko. Part #1189 which include both the receptacle and the plug.
I included a photo of the male 2 prong plug today.
I am not positive, but I believe the plug is part #0042 and is called the connector by Perko.

These original OEM parts are still available from Perko as I just bought one last year.

Joe, Jeff and the rest,

Thanks for the repy. I apologize for forgetting to include the brand in my post. It is a Ritchie with the direct read card. I really like the compass. It would be real nice not to have the bubble though. I will try contacting Ritchie.

As far as the plug goes, now I am not sure why I wanted to find the original plug. Jeff's suggestion to change it out for a cigarette lighter receptacle is probably the most practical thing to do. I think the origianl plug was there to be used with the optionl spotlight.

Thanks again,
Doug
