Georgia requires hull registration numbers be to the right of the validation decal. I bought a boat from Michigan, where it is the opposite. I already placed my GA validation decal directly over the MI validation decal. But now that I look at my boat (see profile picture), it looks like there won't be enough room to the right of the validation decal to place my GA registration numbers...they will be partially bending under the bow and less visible.
Does anyone know if it's okay to just remove the old MI registration numbers and put the new GA registration numbers in their place, to the left of the validation decal? I can't move the GA validation decal.
While you might get away with it, just obtain a replacement decal. It's only a few dollars.
Order matching registration # from Janis at Magic Brush. They are the OEM vendor of Whaler decals. They come in one long sheet so application is easy. www.magicbrushsign.com
You will want to take the opportunity to buff out the area prior to install.
The regulations and enforcement vary from one state to the next. I suspect that if you have both decal and registration numbers in about the right place and visible, no one will care.
