I have a 28 SPL on it right now. Would really like to put a new motor with power trim on. Here is the question, what is the best motor to go with? Would like at least 25 hp, no greater than 40.

just installed a new Honda 40 power trim&tilt. runs about 35 mph and plenty of power goin on to plane. m 1972 13 sport had a 15'' transom s I used a aluminum adapter to make it a 20''. your boat is a 20'' transom so you don't have to adapt. if I remember your transom also has a flat spot were the motor bolts to, if your transom is rounded you will need to shim the gap on the sides. some use washers I made wood shims. the difference between the 30 and the 40 yes is weight but performance out of the hole and some top end speed you will find. I use my 13 for a lot of watersports so the 40 worked out for me, if just cruising on the lake is your thing I think the 30 should work fine
